Immunizations (Shots) in Oregon

Learn about which immunizations your children need and when they need to get them.

What if your children have missed some of the shots they were supposed to get?
Get a "catch-up" schedule so your children will be up to date on the shots they need. 

Can your children get free and low-cost immunization shots?
Yes, your children may be able to get free immunization shots through the Vaccines for Children Program (VFC).

How do you know if your child qualifies?
To qualify, your child must be 18 years or younger and must fit into one of these groups:

• Is eligible for Medicaid or Oregon Health Plan, or
• Does not have any health insurance, or
• Is Native American or Alaska Native, or
• Has health insurance but it does not include vaccinations (immunizations) or it includes only a few kinds of shots. Then, your children must go to a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or Rural Health Clinic (RHC) for immunizations. If your children qualify, where can you take them to get free immunizations?
You can ask your doctor if they participate or call (503) 731-4020 for a list of places where you can get free shots through the Vaccines for Children program.

How can you keep track of your child's immunization records?
Oregon ALERT is a statewide program that keeps track of children's immunization records. This makes it convenient for you and your doctor or clinic to easily find out which shots your kids got or need to get. It doesn’t matter how many different places your child got their shots.
