Manage Your Money with a Non-Traditional Card

The ethos card is an alternative to traditional bank accounts, especially if you sometimes overdraw your checking account or have ever had trouble getting approved for credit. 

This card can help you if:

• you want to avoid getting charged for spending more money than you have in your account, since you can’t take out more than what is in your ethos account.
• you’ve had credit problems in the past, since ethos doesn’t do a credit check.
• you want to save 10-60% on prescriptions (but this is NOT insurance).
• your employer allows you to directly deposit your paycheck into your ethos account (most will).
• you have access to a phone, cell phone (for text messages) or the Internet, since that’s how you keep track of your account balance.
• you use stores that allow you to get additional cash back when you buy items with your card. 

Cost:

A fee of $2.95 will automatically be taken out of your ethos account every month. Sometimes employers pay this fee, so contact your employer before applying for a card. 

Included in this card fee is a discount of 10-60% off most prescriptions for you and your immediate family. You can also pay a small monthly fee to get discounts on other health services besides prescriptions, including dental, vision, and even pet care services. You can save money as an account holder by getting your cash back at stores when you make purchases, having your paycheck directly deposited, and using the automated phone service to check your account balance, as these services are available at no extra cost. There are fees to use an ATM, to make a non-direct deposit, to talk to Customer Service, or to have monthly statements mailed to your home. See information on fees.

The ethos card is accepted at all VISA debit locations. 

To get an ethos card you need:

• a Social Security Number
• a physical US address
• to not appear on a government exemption list
• $6.95 application fee and $25 initial deposit
• to fill out and send in the application form
